The Accidental Remote Worker continues...

Chapter 2

The COVID season brought unexpected trouble and opportunity. I had an unexpected but enjoyable sabbatical and am planning to enter the commercial marketplace again subject to some to “rules of the road". I intend to be a HYBRID worker, part onsite and part remote.

My goals

I would like to work in the industry of real property operations management or operations management in supporting roles; both remote and selectively onsite. The best mix would 2 days each during each week. This is flexible according to the work requirements.

Onsite time and location will be determined by travel time when considering costs.  I live in the northeast metro and do not wish to commute daily in heavy traffic nor spend 2 hours per day on the road when required to be onsite, as it is a waste of my employer's/client's resources.

My knowledge and skills will bring value to the right setting

With respect to remote work, I have resources, skills and experience that add value for my clients and for me. Here are some examples:

I am computer literate; familiar with the MicroSoft suite of tools and platforms, and the Mac operating environment. I use these tools as a mobile worker as required.

I have transferable hands-on experience as an Operations Manager for companies with real estate assets. This experience includes:

Performing onsite inspections of work performed on real estate assets

Contracting and supervising vendors

Directing building operating engineers

Guiding and supervising design and construction for repurposing and repair

Leading teams of professionals in special project settings (lawyers, design professionals, builders, and local building officials)

I have other attributes as well

In addition to remote work aptitude, I am also experienced with internal organizational reporting. In that role, I work with both staff and line managers (“internal customers”). From an operations manager perspective, I work with and often report to inside counsel, financial officers, marketing, and executive officers.

My education and work over the past 25 years are built on education and applied business experience evidenced by my Bachelors degree in business administration/marketing, active State of Minneosta real estate license, and Real Property Administrator (”RPA”) BOMI certification.

Orgaizational culture counts for me

I hope to serve in a culture that values the roles of all team members. Now is the time to start again; both remote and person-to-person.
